Solar Panel Installation in Santa Fe in Santa Fe: what is different here
With 280+ sunny days and high elevation boosting panel output, Santa Fe is among the best solar regions in the country. The local questions are specific: monsoon hail ratings on panels, PNM's interconnection and net-metering terms, and whether batteries make sense for grid reliability rather than bill savings alone.
At 7,000 feet with 280+ sunny days, Santa Fe panels produce above their nameplate ratings. The local decisions are hail ratings, PNM interconnection terms, and whether batteries are worth it for outage resilience.
Signs you need this service
- Rising PNM bills with good south-facing roof exposure
- Repeated outages in fringe areas during storms
- An aging roof that should be replaced before panel mounting
- EV purchase plans that change household load
How to vet a provider in Santa Fe
Before you book, ask for these four things. A provider who answers them clearly is usually one who will still be here in year three:
- New Mexico EE-98 electrical license for the interconnection work
- PNM interconnection experience with recent projects
- Warranty structure: panels, inverters, workmanship, and who services it in year eight
- A production estimate in writing, not a verbal promise

Batteries matter most for outage resilience and time-of-use savings; grid-tied without storage still cuts daytime bills substantially.
