Furnace Repair in Santa Fe

Furnace Repair in Santa Fe in Santa Fe: what is different here

At 7,000 feet, Santa Fe winters push heating systems harder than their ratings assume, while monsoon-season humidity swings and high-desert dust stress cooling equipment. Systems need sizing and burner adjustments matched to altitude — a unit that runs fine in Albuquerque can short-cycle here.

Santa Fe furnaces run longer seasons than their ratings assume — October cold snaps through April freezes. Short-cycling and flame-sensor faults dominate the local call mix.

Signs you need this service

• No heat or weak airflow during freezing nights
• Furnace short-cycling: on for two minutes, off for five
• AC running constantly without cooling during July
• Burning smell, rattling, or squealing from the air handler

How to vet a provider in Santa Fe

Before you book, ask for these four things. A provider who answers them clearly is usually one who will still be here in year three:

1. NMBDI mechanical license and EPA 608 certification for refrigerant work
2. Written quote that includes load calculations for high-elevation homes
3. Warranty terms on parts AND labor, and what voids them
4. Proof they service your system brand — many techs specialize

Frequently asked questions

Why does my furnace short-cycle in cold weather?

Clogged filters, faulty flame sensors, or limit-switch trips are common causes. At 7,000 ft, burner adjustments also matter.

When is furnace replacement better than repair?

When the heat exchanger is cracked, the unit is 15+ years old, or repairs approach half the cost of an efficient replacement.
