AC Repair in Santa Fe

AC Repair in Santa Fe in Santa Fe: what is different here

At 7,000 feet, Santa Fe winters push heating systems harder than their ratings assume, while monsoon-season humidity swings and high-desert dust stress cooling equipment. Systems need sizing and burner adjustments matched to altitude — a unit that runs fine in Albuquerque can short-cycle here.

AC season in Santa Fe is short but intense: July monsoon humidity followed by 90-degree stretches. Systems that sat idle for nine months often fail on the first sustained hot weekend.

Signs you need this service

• No heat or weak airflow during freezing nights
• Furnace short-cycling: on for two minutes, off for five
• AC running constantly without cooling during July
• Burning smell, rattling, or squealing from the air handler

How to vet a provider in Santa Fe

Before you book, ask for these four things. A provider who answers them clearly is usually one who will still be here in year three:

1. NMBDI mechanical license and EPA 608 certification for refrigerant work
2. Written quote that includes load calculations for high-elevation homes
3. Warranty terms on parts AND labor, and what voids them
4. Proof they service your system brand — many techs specialize

Frequently asked questions

How often should AC be serviced in Santa Fe?

Once a year before cooling season is standard; high-desert dust can make twice-yearly checks worthwhile.

Why is my AC running but not cooling?

Common causes: dirty filter or coils, low refrigerant, a failing capacitor, or an oversized unit short-cycling.
